If you are interested in playing Korfball, please Leicester City Korfball Club: info@leicesterkorfball.org.uk
Matt Freeman is the Tornadoes trainer:
Matt began playing korfbal at Lancaster University around 8 years ao. He first started playing Korfball because basketball at uni level became a bit too serious and still wanted to play team sports, but enjoy the social aspects - so Korfball was perfect!
Since his University days, he has since played for Nottingham City - where he was East Midlands male high scorer in 2007/08 - and also played with them in the Central England league.
In August 2007, Matt started Leiceser's first ever Korfball Club, the Tornadoes, and since then the team have gone from strength to strength. Combining experienced and new players, the team achieved 4th (of 8) in the league in the clubs first year and joint 2nd last year and will be playing to challenge the title this season. The Club has also held Summer Tournaments in 2008 and 2009, hosting teams from across the county making sure that Leicester Korfball is firmly on the map.

There is also korfball all over the UK! Here are some of our favourite clubs...
Leeds Korfball Club - The legends - regular Leicester Tourney favourites and home of Kennard
Bristol Korfball Club - Have a wicked tourney, (dj needs practice) and loaned us two sombreros and a pair of maracas!
Our two lovely venues! Without them we would be playing in the streets, using brooms with laundry baskets on.
John Sandford Sports Centre - Our lovely warm winter venue.
Aylestone St James Rugby Club - Our lovely (usually) warm summer venue. |
